I use these on their own when I ride in the evenings, and it's just a little cool (upper 50s low 60s).I like to use them under my full booties for extra warmth on those cold and windy cycling days.They do not get in the way of my clips, but they are hard to get over the velcro on my cycling shoes; it gets far enough enough over to keep me warm.
